Spotify made music convenient to consume, but it's time is up. Apple Music helped me fall in love with albums, artists, and actual enjoying music again. Here’s why I switched—and why I’m not going back
I recently just went back to Apple Music. It truely is a delight and making playlists again is fun again. I also took the time to move over some of my favorite curiatied Spotify playlists. Had to do it manually but it was worth the hour of my time.
FYI, they do have folders but only on the Mac app and they work on iOS once you create them on the Mac. Strange they don't let you create folder on iOS but typical Apple.
An underrated feature of apple music is their radio stations too. Actual DJs playing music. Shows hosted by artists. Long form interviews. You can just turn it on and let it play and who knows what you’ll hear.
I’m intrigued how it compares to Tidal 🤔 I switched from Spotify and I actually enjoy the fact that you have to put in work, because it’s more minimal. Plus I find the recommendations are good too.
I love these kind of products reviews that compare the two main competitors, but Im sorry to say this reads like a veeery surface level AI ad for Apple Music. I'm really sorry if it's not the case and you spent the time comparing both and writing from scratch, but it just doesn't sound natural at all...
I hate Spotify as much as the next guy but reject the notion that Apple Music is the local record store. Actually the local record store is the local record store. Apple Music is just a slightly lesser of two evils with a more stable interface that’s not so blatant about treating you like a consumer.

It's disappointing to see what Spotify's become, and I would leave if not for the fact that I've been using it since 2009 and essentially grew up with it (nostalgia!). It used to be my favorite product and the last 2-5 years have felt like a downhill in both visual and experience aspects. As you mentioned, the information density, visual clutter -- all super overwhelming. As someone who doesn't listen to podcasts/audiobooks as much, I've definitely also felt that they've been dec-entering music from the core app experience. My biggest issue is that with the addition of AI features, everything's become made "for me" -- which just seems to be a fancy way to say they'll recycle stuff I listen to already endlessly and create homogenous experience wherever I go. Anyways, I just downloaded Apple music and experience it for myself! :)
I've only ever used Apple Music because I had a massive iTunes catalogue so to me it just made sense to keep all my music in the same app. Using friends phones for Spotify when in the car, or just listening is always a confusing experience for me and I definitely notice the difference in sound
Apple really nails design through and through and their music app is literal proof. Amazing how UI and typography and functional features come together for a seamless experience. If Apple Music was on Android I'd be the first one to sign up :/

Never left. I started loading music into iTunes in the early Oughts, including tens of thousands of hours of live music before the advent of Archive.org. As of this morning, there are 33,834 “songs” in my Library, the vast majority of which aren’t available, in this sound quality, anywhere else.

Apple Music has the worst algorithm of all time, randomly plays anything like literally anything of some other language.
if you want a algorithm obviously choose spotify people are choosing apple because they decentralize algorithms

real, i always listen a whole albulm instead of a playlist. the albulm brings the artist’s vibe, aesthetic. plus, AM is much more simple to use
